Jamie Wyeth (b. 1946) is a third-generation artist - son of Andrew Wyeth, and grandson of N.C. Wyeth, and he is distinguished in his own right as a contemporary realist painter. He was raised in Chadds Ford Township, Pennsylvania, and is artistic heir to the Brandywine School tradition - painters who worked in the rural Brandywine River area of Delaware and Pennsylvania, portraying its people, animals, and landscape. Many of his works reflect the innate beauty of the Maine and Pennsylvania landscape and wildlife or depict important individuals and cultural events in the late 20th and early 21st centuries. However, others are more dramatically Avant-garde, transmitting the artist’s raw response to humanity through cropped and contorted multimedia compositions.
