Andrew Wyeth: Seven Decades
November 18 - December 20, 2014
We pleased to present this exhibition, which can be seen as an overview of the artist’s long and productive career. Represented is the range of subject matter for which Andrew Wyeth became internationally known: the male and female figure, landscape in all weather conditions, local architecture, and the flora and fauna that inhabited his two favorite places: Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania and the coast of Maine. Works loaned from private collections are indicated in the picture captions. All others are for sale. We are very grateful to the lenders for parting with their paintings for our show. We could not have accomplished this exhibition without the help and cooperation of Mary Landa and the Wyeth family, and of course my friend and colleague, Frank Fowler. And we give special thanks to Dr. William Gerdts for his incisive commentary.
